Our Syrah/Grenache Rhone-style blend from the Westside appellation of Paso Robles continues to garner the highest praises from the press, trade and most importantly, you! We encourage you to secure your allocation (one pyramid) of PharaohMoans 2009 by April 15, 2011.
The 2009 vintage is a blend of 92% Syrah and 8% Grenache from our limestone and clay- rich soils. Our yield was a mere 8 barrels (or 200 cases) of wine this year. The wine has aged 15 months in Taransaud and Saury French cooperage and will ship to you this spring.
The 2009 PharaohMoans exhibits flavors of dark chocolate, black licorice and smoked meats. It is a dense wine that will pair extraordinarily well with your mesquite-grilled steaks and rich cheeses.

"If you know the Rhône-style wines of Saxum, which is probably Paso Robles' most expensive wine, this is nearly identical. Mostly Syrah, with 8% Grenache, the wine is decadently rich in milk chocolate, blackberry jam and sweet, smoky oak flavors. It's very high in alcohol, but unless you're an extremist in this regard, you can't help but be knocked out by the wine's sensuous pleasures."

As you are aware, the PharaohMoans label is a replica of the Rosetta Stone, which in 1822 finally decoded the hieroglyphic script. The dull text (which refers to tax breaks for priests) was inscribed in three languages, Greek, demotic Egyptian and hieroglyphics. We've just learned about a recent discovery at the British Museum of a fourth language on the Rosetta stone. The relic was fought over by French and British troops at the end of the Napoleonic wars, and finally taken to London. On the side of the stone, painted in English, one can read, "Captured in Egypt by the British Army in 1801." We think our English label inspired them to check!
